You could try watching this playlist for a pretty simple method: If as you said the recording's great, then the actual mixing should be simple enough. The most important thing to help you get a good mix is to have performed the recording well. That should honestly get you to a good start. You could record multiple vocal tracks and have them on the sides with one track in the center, and so on.Īt some point, you'd likely want to add some reverb and delay, preferably using high quality room impulse response libraries. Rhythm guitars hard panned left and right and orchestra and synths all over the stereo field, giving everything its own slot. The first thing you could do is to pan everything. "I mainly want to take my mix from sounding like a demo where everything is just kind of linear and centered-sounding, to MASSIVE surround sound that fills the room, and the vocals just sound more professional, like they are surrounding you." Just wanted to look for assistance on here first before I start mindlessly watching multiple hours of YouTube videos that may or may not tell me what I need to know. I have very nice guitars, mics, equipment, and already have the drum tracks recorded at a professional studio, and everything in-place in Logic, but now I just need to understand compression and metering and all of those fancy terms. I mainly want to take my mix from sounding like a demo where everything is just kind of linear and centered-sounding, to MASSIVE surround sound that fills the room, and the vocals just sound more professional, like they are surrounding you. My sound is alternative arena-rock with lots of guitars, massive drums, soaring vocals, and symphonic and synthesized elements, similar to bands like Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars, and ONE OK ROCK. I currently own all of EastWest third party plugins and some others on the side, so I have the sound I am looking for nailed, but I guess I am trying to understand how to mix it all and give it that "wider, more huge" sound that fills the room, especially the vocals. I have been using Logic Pro X for the last decade now, but I am attempting a very ambitious task of self-producing my bands album from home. It's really not much work at all, we are still relatively small-sized. But we do have a very comprehensive set of automoderator filters, which catches comments and posts that require manual approval. Unlike some other subreddits, this one has very few user reports (ie: maybe once a month).
